COVID –  19 School Update Monday 30th March 2020

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this difficult time. We will do our upmost to  ensure that we continue to support you. In line with the Cabinet Office and Department for Education document: Guidance for schools, childcare providers, colleges and local authorities in England on maintaining educational provision, if children can stay safely at home, they should. This is the best way we can limit the chance of the virus spreading. The fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society. We thank you in advance for your continued cooperation. We are continuing to receive regular updates and guidance from Public Health England, the Local Authority and Department for Education.

School Closures & Home Learning

Every child was sent home with a home learning pack before the school closed. There is a link on the school website under ‘Parent Information’ that directs you to planned weekly activities for your children. We have also added some websites to the school website and we will keep adding to these. Children have access to Purple Mash and Numbots. Lots of children have also been joining in with PE with Joe Wicks, RWI lessons, story time with David Walliams amongst other things which we keep sharing on our Twitter page/website. It has been so lovely to see some of the learning that your children have been doing too. Please keep sharing these on our Twitter and we would still like as many parents as possible to download the twitter app and follow our classes.

Please make sure that throughout all of this, you continue to have some fresh air/go on a daily walk and most importantly spend quality time with your family playing games, making things, watching films, singing, dancing, talking and laughing together whilst ensuring that you stay safe.

Arrangements for Free School Meals

We are supporting all of our families who are in receipt of Free School Meals by providing them with a packed lunch which is available from reception from 11.30am. All parents in receipt of ‘Free School Meals’ should have received a text message that they need to respond to. Vouchers will be sent by text daily.

Support for all our families

We appreciate that this is a challenging time for everyone, and there are families within our community who are particularly struggling whether this be for food or they just need someone to talk to. Please remember that we are still here to support each and everyone of you and we can still be contacted via the school email— Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can support you or your child in anyway.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thankyou to all the staff for their courage and support during this time. Both the staff and children have worked wonders during this period.

It is important that we keep saying to the children that It’s good to know that pandemics don’t happen very often. They occur about once every twenty-five or thirty years, or about three times every one hundred years. It’s also helpful to remember that the Coronavirus pandemic will end; probably not by tomorrow morning, but it will end.

We once again thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Thank you for your continued support,

David Hickey
